Goodbye to our friends

27 April 2010

So, our best friends in McKinney are leaving. Moving to New Mexico primarily to escape the horrific air quality here in North Texas, which is affecting two family members’ health. We’re so bummed. It’s hard enough to find good friends, without losing them to pollution, of all things.

To make myself feel better, I made a purse for the fairer half of the couple. She had admired one I made, so I decided to send her off with one like it. I hope she really did like it, and wasn’t just being nice! Whatever. She doesn’t have to use it. But it felt good pouring my energy into it for a bit, to send as a memento of our friendship.

It’s a simple design, about 6″ x 9″. I’ve tweaked this design for a couple of years now, and it’s just perfect for me for day-to-day use. Plus she’s an “autumn”, so the colors are perfect for her. And come on; who doesn’t like vinyl?

I love it!!! Do you make more? To sell?

    • You’re sweet, Beth. I don’t make them to sell at this point. In fact, I had to beat my machine into submission to cooperate in sewing this one. I have industrial machines at the Flour Mill which would work better. But right now I’m focusing on other things, you know? I’ll let you know if I start, though!

Lori loves it and uses it everyday! Also, the cheese grater rocks. The clean air and such are working well on my ladies already. Tabi’s skin is slowly healing, and Lori’s breathing is much better. We miss you guys!

    • There you are! I hope you’re settling in OK. We miss y’all terribly. But it’s all worth it if the ladies are feeling good. When mama is happy, everyone is happy – as my husband says.

I am just now reading your post and I must tell you that I LOVE the purse. And I am breathing with ease. No more sitting up to sleep, but leaving behind our friends and family has been a hard price to pay. We look forward to seeing you guys next month.

I hope you let me know if you’re in the neighborhood visiting your friends.

    • That’s exactly what I was thinking! The more my friends clump together, the better it is for me. :-)
