I have a similar reaction to squash vines. The past few summers I would have little bumps on my wrists and arms. I had a dog and was afraid they were flea bites(even though the dog didn't seem to have fleas). This year when the maddeningly itchy bumps appeared (and since our dog is no longer with us) I realized that it's the squash vines! I always plant them too close together and have to wade into the middle of them to look for squash. I take benedril to keep the itching down. Good Luck!

mate thx a million u solved one of my problems i used thermalites on top of the concrete slap n cut a round diameter to fit the bricks in so stubid of me why not lay all the floor bricks tight in a square n then build the oven ovet it?

so now am going to start all over with the floor oven with a square held together tightly in a wooden frame n after the oven dome is build i can lay some concrete round the frame to keep it permanetly from mooving

Hey Vesta ... go prune those heirloom roses that your neighbor has that you threatened to prune and lay them down where you want to discourage cats. Big thorns! Works for us.

NICE OVEN! Very professional job. It should last for many years. The best thing about a wood fired oven, OK ONE of the best things, is that you can burn up all of the scrap you can get your hands on. No need for expensive cordwood. I used to burn all of the leftovers from trees that I cut for cordwood. With an oven it is strictly BTUs.

BTW ... two things that are great in an outdoor oven. One is roast duck or goose cause you keep all of the grease and smoke outside and that means that you actually have an appetite for it when it is finally time to eat it. The second is that when you are done baking or roasting with the oven, put in a pot of dried beans to cook as the oven cools down ... try white beans with Mediterranean veggies and herbs. Terrific.

A fellow gardener told me that she uses orange peels to deter cats. I've been using oranges in various ways to keep away all of the Texas bugs, but it seems to be working on the cats, too.
